Re: Help me remember...

I think you could send missiles when in normal space to other target also in normal space and it would follow them out to hyperspace. You could not fire from orbit. You were not supposed to be able to fire at people in orbit of a planet, but manual missile commands got around the front-end restrict...

Re: SE Galaxy Names?

Nope, imp names were Trantor, Odin, Loki, and Fenris. Gaia would have been a glaxy name, and I'm pretty sure there were 4 of them... maybe it was only 3?

Help me remember...

I'll randomly be posting questions to things related to SE that my memory is fading on, so if you know any of the answers to these questions, please post what you do know :) My question about v1.0+ SE Galaxy names still stands in my other thread. Additional questions; Missles: could not be launched ...

SE Galaxy Names?

I got to thinking, and since I didn't spend much time in the other galaxies, I can no longer remember all the names. I know there was Andromeda, as well as Milky Way, those were the primaries. I seem to recall one may have been named Gaia, but am not certain about that, and can't even think of what ...

Re: LETS BE HONEST..is this a ..........

It's been quite a while, but from what I recall, SE ran on a custom OS called AriesOS, but I have no idea just how customized it was. As I recall, it was based on IBM AIX Unix, though I have no idea which version. I wasn't aware Starship Troopers Online had any code base with SE. I've never played i...

Re: LETS BE HONEST..is this a ..........

Spectrum has a MW3 clone that he's making rapid process on which is more the "80's" type game over at www.megawarsiii.com and I am quietly working on my SE-type clone/improvement in my own spare time. As for rights, rights to the old game code itself are owned by EA, who aquired Kesmai and...

Re: Reunion Date

We shall never forget OeilNoir! For those of you who didn't know him, or did but were uninformed, OeilNoir (French for Black Eye, his real name was Jerome Pelletier) was a member of the Stellar Emperor community for many years through Open and Closed beta as well PFP on Gamestorm. We was the founder...

Progress - Galaxy Generation

I'll start logging a little bit more as I attempt to get work done. As I've stated a couple times, I'm starting with random galaxy generation basing off the two complete gxy files I have. I have those two files imported into a database so I can do a number of dynamic calculations with them. I have t...

Re: Archived Media

Once again, a call for complete gxy files if anybody still has any...

I'm currently working on galaxy generation, and I only have 2 complete files to base off of. I'd prefer to have 2 or 3 more if possible, but isn't really required.

Re: Star locations: Static or Dynamic?

I really like the idea of having control over number of stars and quality of planets also, which is a part of why this topic is raised. Then off on yet another tangent, there is the fact that dynamic layouts would make it harder for 'botting' or having AI do work, but at the same time require that t...

Re: Star locations: Static or Dynamic?

Yes, the at least 5 of the 6 (or was it 4 of the 5, I don't remember now) were edge stars that just weren't able to display with the drawing method avaialable, they got clipped off. 4096 I'm still now sure why, aside from it being the last number, nothing else really stands out for that one. There i...

Star locations: Static or Dynamic?

I've started different parts of random new galaxy creation, and this is one of the first things that popped into my head, what is everybody's opinion? Which then turns into a second question, of how to handle the hidden stars? :) Hidden stars don't really seem to have a place in a dynamic galaxy as ...

Re: Archived Media

No complete gxy files there, but that's no surprise, not many people had them.

Those PM reports will be incredibly helpful however, much thanks!

Re: Archived Media

Thanks, look forward to them Het.
I guess I'll extend this to full gxy files as well, but I'm not expecting much there 8-)
